The Protea France adventure was born in the Cognac region: a family passion for spirits and wine products.

About Us

Since 1988, Protea France has gone from strength to strength, constantly striving to perfect its unique oak extract processes.

Today, our expertise covers :
• Oak woods for oenology
• Tanins
• Spirits maturation
• Demineralized water (with its own spring water, ®Eau de Gensac).

Protea’s story began with one man: Etienne Hosteing, the company’s founder, who was one of the first to develop an official French range of heat-treated chips.
William Hosteing, the current CEO, succeeded his father in 2014. His aim is to develop the business by offering innovative, high-performance products.

To pursue his objectives, we have set up a Research & Development (R&D) department dedicated to developing innovative products for winemaking and maturing wines and spirits.
